Memorial Day weekend Part 2

So, maybe we are junkies and need therapy, but we cannot make a trip to the Salt Lake valley without stopping in the worlds greatest furniture store. It is the one place that Dan actually enjoys shopping. We got way too much stuff, and it didn't really fit into our little Jeep too well. (Dana had to ride home in the little seat behind Dan.) But no sacrifice is too great to get IKEA stuff in the home.

The main reason for our trip, though was to hang out with friends and family. The friends you have already seen in our last post. This post is about our trip up to my mom's cabin and hanging out with the family. This is a view from the mountains where the cabin is. It is really beautiful up there this time of year.
This is Dana holding Persaus (per-SAY-us) who was given the nickname of 'Pinto' by Dan. Its a long story, but the name stuck. She is growing like a weed, and is terribly cute. When we got there, we were the only ones who could hold her without her crying. So you can see she has great taste, too. ;-)

These are the Three Niece-kateers, Tressa, Jocelyn, and Aspen, with Dan in the hat. The cabin has a really cool swing that is also a bed. Bob made it by welding a huge steel pipe frame, and then hanging an old metal box-spring to it. The result is a hammock that doesn't hurt your back. Genius. Anyway, it is a favorite place to play on the cabin, and in this picture the nieces were helping Dan fly by kicking their feet and laughing. Now all they need is pixie dust.
The hat on the left is Dan, the hat on the right is Will. Whenever the family gets together, these two break out their guitars and jam together. This is them playing Sweet Home Alabama. Will and Dan are almost so alike it is scary.
Of course, we had to have SMORES while we were there. It was awesome to be able to sit around the campfire and hang out with our awesome family. The people you don't see photos of are Jon and Chandelle, the parents of the Niece-kateers, Crystal and Jed, the parents of Pinto, preggo Becky, wife of Will, and of course Mom and Bob. We got lots of video of them, but not very many good pictures, so we couldn't post them without feeling guilty.

It was great to visit with the family. We wished that Monica and Jesse & Wendy could have been there too, to complete the family circle, but hopefully next time. Dan loved being out in woods and being able to smell like a campfire again. Dana was just happy there were SMORES to be had. The weather was not very good while we were up there, so we didn't ride the quads much, but it was still fun anyway.

We think we have a pretty great family. Congratulations to Bean on the new expected arrival. Now Dan has to come up with a new nick-name to continue the bean tradition.
