Catch up: Visit to Denver

I got my birthday present early this year - a ticket to go to Denver and visit my dear friend Tammy. Dan is such a sweetheart for giving me something that would make me so happy.
Unfortunately, I got really sick the day before the trip, but that didn't stop me! Tammy made sure I got enough rest in between our adventures.
One of the highlights was going to see "Breaking Dawn-Part 1" at the midnight showing. Olivia was the only one from our group of friends who was crazy enough (just like Tammy and me) to sacrifice sleep over this movie. We had a really good time and the movie was better than its predecessors. That counts for something right?!
Aren't Tammy's kids just adorable?! The 2 younger girls insisted on me curling their hair and I think I did a good job, judging by their smiles.
Have you ever heard of Charming Charlie? Well, I hadn't until Tammy took me there. She works there and got me some great deals on a purse, some shoes and jewelry. I think we spent hours in that store....it was awesome.
We also went window shopping at Southlands, ...

...checked on our old house (which at that point was still not sold)

and said good-bye one last time.

One of the funniest stories of the trip must have been the trip to downtown Denver to go to the new H&M store. When I still lived in Germany, H&M was my favorite store to buy clothes at and we had like 15 stores in my hometown alone. When I moved to Utah I was sad to find out that there was no H&M in a 1000 mile radius. So every time I went home to visit my family in Germany, I would also stock up on clothes from H&M. I was so happy to hear that the store in Denver opened right before I came to visit.
I told Tammy all about how great this store was, blah, blah....
This is me in front of the store after standing in line for about an hour to get into the store, just to find out that it was nothing like the stores I was used to. I only found 1 piece of clothing I liked! It was so disappointing and as you can tell from my facial expression, not worth the hype.
We got some yummy Cafe Rio on our way home and had some good old girl's time with Olivia, Jandi and Janelle. It was so great to catch up and laugh. It almost felt like I never left.
I flew back the next day, after a short stop at church, so see some more familiar faces.

Even though I was sick as a dog, I really loved being with Tammy. She is one of those friends you keep for life and it doesn't matter how long you've been apart, it feels like you never left. I had such a great time and it was one of the best birthday presents I could have hoped for.
