Of course I spent a majority of time with my oldest friend Kristin and her husband. Here we are at one of our favorite places to go eat, the Brasserie. (that is also were I celebrated my 30th)
This is the beginning of my first baby quilt that Kristin helped me sew. It turned out really good, but for some reason I didn't take a picture of the finished product.
Every time I visit home, we try to make a trip to the temple. I am so glad I was able to spent that special time with my parents there.
On our way back we always stop at the graveyard where my grandparents and my mom are buried. We cleaned it up and planted new plants.
In Leipzig they always have a hot air balloon festival and I used to go see it every year when I was still living there. It was good timing this year that I happened to be in town for it. ;)
My brother Sven and his wife Beate took me out on a day trip to visit a few places we used to go to when I was a little child. We went to this castle, where they had a renaissance festival that weekend, ate delicious food and went on a beautiful hike through the forest. I love the forests in Germany, they are magical.
Towards the end of my visit me and Kristin got our hair cut and highlighted, dressed up and went on a girl's night out. Kristin has 4 kids and doesn't get to do this very often, so we made the best of it!
On one of our excursions to the park, where you can drive in a little train around the park. I grew up riding that train and it was fun to see the next generation enjoying that same adventure. (sorry no picture of the train)
This is one last shin-dig with my family in my parents garden. We ate, we laughed and just had a good time together.
Me and my dad on a walk. Notice the nice blooming bush behind us?!
This is my parents wrapped around the blanket that I crocheted for them (Dan even helped a lot). I started months before going to Germany, but ran out of time to sew all the pieces together, so every day while in Germany I sewed a little and finished it like 2 days before going home. They really liked it.
I had such a good time in Germany as always and was blessed to be there for a long time. I love my family and am so grateful to have them in my life. It is not easy to live apart but I love that we are still close despite the distance.
Can't wait for the next trip!
