Before we tell you about our newest news, let us first say this is something we have been thinking about doing for years, and something that we have almost done at least three times. Well, we went ahead and finally did it: we got a dog!
Here he is - he is a beagle, and just two months old. Isn't he the cutest thing you ever saw? We got him on New Years Day, which we thought was a great day for a new beginning.
His name is Louie, but Dana originally wanted to name him Bones after her favorite TV show. Dan didn't like that idea, especially since Bones is a girl in that show.
So that sort-of makes us parents now. He certainly acts like a baby, but more like a toddler. Into everything, doesn't listen, wakes us up at night, the whole nine yards. He has a great personality, and has brought a lot of energy and excitement into our house.
We picked a Beagle because they stay relatively small and are great companion dogs, good with kids and other animals. But mostly we picked Louie because of his temperament compared to other puppies at the shop. He just looked smarter and more in-control. The alpha puppy, you might say.
So now we are in the process of crate training and house breaking him. Given that he has only been at it for three days, he is already doing very well (and we are doing OK, lol). It is certainly nice for us to have someone new to dote on and teach, since Dana has already learned everything Dan has to teach her, and Dan is pretty much a lost cause.
