Catch up: Halloween 2011

Last year for Halloween we went Oriental. There is this crazy costume store in Clarksville that opens in late August - it is a giant inflatable pumpkin/tent/store - and they had these two wigs that were the perfect finishing touch for our costumes.
Dana makes a pretty awesome Geisha. What you can't see here is that the white make-up she used at first got into her eyes and made her cry for like an hour. Also, what you can't see is that she is really a ninja. We wore these costumes to the Mike and Elke's party, who are some of the coolest people in our ward. Dana made this super-awesome cupcake platter that looked like a spider's web. She put a ton of work into it. As she carried the platter in to the party, her sandal got caught on the edge of a concrete step. She totally turfed it. But since she is a super ninja with crazy skills, she managed to do a complete face-plant without disturbing the cupcakes at all. Totally took one for the team - scraped her knee all up, bleeding, the whole nine yards. Dessert was not damaged, and Dana's reputation for toughness continued to grow.
A lot of really great couples from the ward were there. It is an adults-only party - no kids allowed - and a great chance to socialize with the members from the ward. It is a really great time, and one of our favorite new traditions in this area.

This is Mike and Elke, totally racially profiling themselves. I almost called the ACLU. Almost. The fake prison tattoos were a nice touch.
We thought we had best costume dialed in until the Smurfs showed up. We couldn't beat full-body blue paint.
These are the cupcakes Dana almost died to save. See how pretty? And the other treat are witch hats that I helped to make. All the ones that look really good are mine.
As you can see, Mike and Elke go all out for the party. It is a good show.
Just saying, Samurai hair does not make eating dangling donuts and easier.

Dana loves to decorate and she did a really good job with the house, again.
It was a pretty good Halloween. We even had a decent handful of trick-or-treaters, which is a big improvement over last year.
