Off to Clarksville, TN...

Louie and I have been on a lot of trips this summer. Can you tell, that he was bored most of the time?
On this trip, we drove down to San Antonio first to pick up Dan from his 9 week long officer basic training.
Dan was anxious to see if Louie still knew who he was. When we pulled up to the hotel Louie was a little skeptical at first but recognized Dan right away and couldn't wait to get out of the car. =)
We made our long drive through Texas, Arkansas and finally arrived in Kentucky 2 days later.
This is the view from the main entrance of the gate to the base. The base is located on the border of Kentucky and Tennessee and as you can see, it welcomed us with rain.
The first week we spent at a hotel in Clarksville while searching for houses and Dan's in-processing at the base. It was tiring...
On our first weekend we went to downtown Clarksville just to check it out and ran into the Veteran's parade, which was kind of cool, but very tiny compared to other parades we've been to in bigger cities.
It was kind of different for Dan to think about soldiers and veterans, now that he is one of them.
It was one of the first days where it didn't rain and we really enjoyed being outside after all those days in the hotel.
This picture took a couple of takes, but isn't it cute?!
Our search for a home was not the easiest and neither was the search for furniture to go in it. We spend days driving around to all the little towns around Clarksville and even a trip to Nashville didn't bring the results we hoped for.

So we rented a truck and drove the 4-6 hours down to Atlanta, where they have an Ikea and bought all the furniture we needed and knew we would like.
So, this is it, our cute little town-home in Clarksville. Let's see what adventures we will have here.

So excited for you! Glad that you made is safe and sound to KY/TN. Shane and I are only 3 1/2 hours from you. (to bad that you weren't stationed at Fort Knox, it's only 45 minutes from us!) How long will you be at Fort Campbell?

To bad that you didn't go to the Ikea in Cincinnati, OH, you would have driven right past us and we would have loved to see you!

Best of luck on your new adventures!

So you guys are only about an hour from Nashville, right? I love Nashville! We went there twice this past year to visit my grandmother, aunt, uncle, and cousins.

Thanks so much for your sweet comment! It would be great to catch up when you venture this way. (on occasion we are down that way, we grew up in Madisonville, KY- only about 45 mins. from Fort Campbell and maybe we can get together then) There is plenty to do here in Louisville. There's the Louisville Slugger Museum -they make baseball bats for professional ball players, The Mohammad Ali museum, Thunder Over Louisville - the largest fireworks show in the US, usually around April, the Kentucky Derby - usually in May, there's also a place where you can learn to blow glass. So come and PARTY!
