A couple of weeks ago Dan convinced me to go on a camping trip so he can finally try out his fly fishing rod, that he got for his birthday. So we hopped in the car and off we went. Louie was all excited as well for our adventure.
First we picked up a couple of last minute supplies and then found a nice little campground by the South Platte River.
Louie really enjoyed being of leash and being able to smell all those new outdoorsy smells.
After I made it through a really cold night(we had freezing temperatures outside) we went to the river and Dan tried his luck. He doesn't have all the necessary gear yet, so it made it a little harder for him to catch anything, but he had fun trying out his new rod.
He had to fish from the sides of the river and wasn't lucky enough to catch a fish, but he said he had a couple of nibbles and an almost catch, that I apparently interrupted when I made this picture. =)And here is a little video for all you Louie fans out there. He had so much fun playing around and we had fun watching him.
It was a short trip, but we enjoyed our little adventure and Dan is ready to learn more about fly fishing and get his feet wet.

Mitte April sind Dan und ich endlich dazu gekommen, Dan's Fliegenfischangel auszuprobieren, die er zum Geburtstag bekommen hat. Also sind wir los und haben einen kleinen schoenen Campingplatz an einem Fluss gefunden.
Louie war sehr begeistert alles zu erkunden und frei rumzurennen. Die Nacht war eiskalt, aber ich habe es zum Glueck gut ueberstanden. Dann sind wir endlich an den Fluss und Dan konnte seine Angel ausprobieren. Er hat zwar nichts gefangen, aber hat schon Spass gehabt. Jetzt muss er aber noch mehr lernen und braucht auch noch einiges mehr fuer seine Anglerausruestung, aber das kommt ja nach und nach.Wir hatten jedenfalls eine Menge Spass und werden es bestimmt bald wiederholen. Anbei ist noch ein kleines Video von Louie und wieviel Spass er hatte.

I am sure it was cold, but it looks like you had fun on your adventure anyway. Louie looks so excited in that first picture.
Too bad Bran (and I) are moving. He would have loved to have had a fly fishing buddy. :)
love that doggy smile in the first picture! looks like you guys had fun. my favorite memories with steph and when just the two of us (and dogs, of course) have gone camping.
I think fishing is boring. But I'm glad to hear you had fun! I really like reading your post in german as well. It helps me remember some of what I learned in high school, but although I can understand most of what you write, I couldn't form a sentence if I tried! :( It's still fun to read it though!
