Dan's Grandma's birthday....
In February we had the chance to go back to Utah for a quick weekend, for the special occasion of Dan's grandma's 80th birthday. Her kids set up a great surprise party for her, and even though the preparations included several of Dan's aunts and uncles (not to mention Dan and Dana, lol) coming in from out of town, the surprise was a complete success. It was the first time that all of her kids had been in the same room in over a decade, so of course that made the occasion that much more memorable for everyone, especially grandma.
When we asked what we should give as a gift, Dan's mom made a special request that Dan learn some of the songs that were popular when grandma was young, and he put on a little concert just for her.
Of course, she had several dozen of her great-grand kids running around, which is always hilarious. It was great to see all four generations there in the room having a good time together.
While we were in Utah, we got together with Dan's family and went to see a show at Desert Star Playhouse. The show was a spoof of Twilight, and was pretty hilarious. It is always a good time when we get together with Dan's family, and since we were only in Utah for a couple days we were pumped that we got to do anything with them at all.
If you have never been to the Desert Star, you should totally go. We had a great time there, and the shows are all melodramas, so there is lots of cheering and booing and singing-along with the cast. Just don't get the pizza unless you REALLY like cheese. A lot.
