Better late than never....

Of course, most people are already like 5 or 6 posts past Halloween, but a two week delay is about par for the course for us, I guess.
This is our first Halloween in our own house. We didn't exactly go all out, but we did have a good time getting the house festive for any would-be trick or treaters. Gradually, we will collect a mind-boggling collection for the coolest Halloween decorations ever seen. For this year, we had three plastic pumpkins, a wooden one, a wooden skeleton, and some cloth webbing and plastic spiders. It is a work in progress.
Dan thought Dana zoomed in closer for this shot. The whole showing-that-he-is-standing-on-the-step completely ruins the whole geeky-pretending-to-be-climbing-the-web thing. Oh, well. You can imagine how it might have looked. . .
This is, believe it or not, the first pumpkin that Dana ever carved. Sweet action, huh? Now, to be fair, she did use a template, but it is still a pretty great looking witch. Dana really is pretty good at everything. If she wasn't so nice, it might get annoying, lol.
Here is a better shot, and easier to see the witch. She was really happy with how it turned out, which was cute to see. She is so understated most of the time that seeing her with that proud look on her face was really sweet.
This is the trick-or-treater entrance. The other pumpkin is Dan's. No templates, but also no pride. Go figure. He tried to do a Superman shield, which turned out to be too small relative to the pumpkin. Then he did a CTR shield, which also struggled. At least Dana's looked really great.

We were excited to get tons of trick or treaters, but there wasn't too much turnout. We did get one group of girls who did a choreographed sort of Halloween caroling - they got extra candy - but we had a ton of candy left over. Some of the kids only put bandanas on their face. Yeah, only Tootsie Rolls for the slackers, lol.
